That's the first thing we learned playing Haunted Brainrot 3D online on October 5 and 6, 2026, and it isn't the only surprise: the avocado gorilla in the cell block never touched us, and the game forgets your run the moment you reload. What Is Haunted Brainrot 3D?

Haunted Brainrot 3D is a free first-person escape game by GMG Studios. You start in a run-down prison, pick up a note left by an earlier prisoner and work through one objective at a time, while creatures based on Italian brainrot memes stand around the corridors.

The game never tells you any of this up front. Tap the i button and a banner reads "find the Letter". That letter is a scrap of parchment on a wall at the end of the cell block, and its writer says they "had been trapped in this house before", warns you about "Grimsy's trap" and tells you to "find the secret keys in the house". House, not prison. Everything we reached looked like a prison block, with barred cells, rusty pipes and water heaters, so the story and the map don't quite line up. Once you have the letter, the goal switches to "Find Cutter to Break the Chain".

The brainrot part is the cast. Haunted Brainrot 3D never names its creatures, but each one matches a Steal a Brainrot wiki description: a gorilla with avocado skin and a half-avocado body (Avocadorilla), a chimp head poking out of a peeled banana (Chimpanzini Bananini), and a bullfrog on a car tire with human legs (Boneca Ambalabu). The title art adds an orange, log-shaped figure gripping a baseball bat that looks a lot like Tung Tung Tung Sahur. That's where the link ends. This is an unofficial browser game with no connection to Sammy's Steal a Brainrot on Roblox, whose own Halloween content right now is the Haunted Fuse from Update 69.

Every step we found followed this loop, and the green crosshair is the only hint you get.

How to Play Haunted Brainrot 3D

There's no tutorial in Haunted Brainrot 3D. The title screen shows a chart of keys and one green New Game button, and that's all the help you get. This is the order that worked for us.

Start the GamePix player
Dismiss the cookie notice, press the green button on the GamePix splash, then wait through the GMG game studio loading bar until the title screen with the key chart appears.

Press New Game and wait again
A second LOADING... bar fills while the level streams in. It's a sizeable download, and the bar can read 100% for a while before the prison appears, so give it a moment.

Read your objective
Click the i button in the top-left corner. The first goal reads "find the Letter".

Move and look around
Walk with WASD or the arrow keys and drag the mouse to turn. You start in a narrow corridor next to a water heater, with the avocado gorilla standing further down.

Aim until the crosshair turns green
The white crosshair goes green over anything you can use, and a hand or grab button appears on the right. Press H (or click the hand) for doors and gates, and E (or the grab button) for items.

Pick up the Letter
Follow the cell-block corridor to the far wall where the banana monkey stands. The parchment hangs on that wall. Grab it to read the note, then click once to close it.

Check the new goal and head upstairs
Tap i again to see "Find Cutter to Break the Chain". A barred gate with stairs behind it opened for us with the hand button, and the upper floor has a corridor of white doors to search.

The key chart lists eight actions, and two of them did nothing for us. O is labeled OPEN, yet pressing it at a cell door and at the stairwell gate changed nothing, while H, labeled HAND, opened every gate and door we tried. G (HELP) never showed a help screen either. C works: the stance icon on the left switches to a seated figure and the camera drops. Space is listed as JUMP, though we never needed it. We found no settings menu at all, so there's no mouse sensitivity, volume or graphics option to change.

Touch controls are drawn even on desktop: a joystick bottom-left, the i button and a stance icon on the left edge, pause top-right, and a hand or grab button on the right whenever you aim at something usable. Clicking them with a mouse worked fine.

H is the key that matters. The O key the title screen calls OPEN did nothing for us.

Haunted Brainrot 3D Tips (From Actually Playing It)

Trust the green crosshair

The letter is tiny. From the cell-block entrance it's a pale speck on the far wall at the end of the corridor where the banana monkey stands. Sweep the camera slowly. The crosshair turning green, plus the grab button popping up on the right, is the only highlight Haunted Brainrot 3D gives you.

Use H, not O

Ignore the OPEN label on the title screen. In our run O did nothing, while H opened the stairwell gate, the gate on the upper corridor, the white doors upstairs and a cell door back in the block. If a door won't budge, step closer until the hand button shows up, then press H.

Check the i button after every pickup

Objectives change without any popup. After we closed the letter the screen looked exactly the same, and only a tap on i revealed "Find Cutter to Break the Chain". Easy to miss.

Where we already searched for the Cutter in Haunted Brainrot 3D

Save yourself some walking. The white-door rooms we checked upstairs looked empty to us, and the only furniture we spotted up there was a few trestle tables in a larger room. The tire frog guards a barred gate on that floor, which also opens with H. No Cutter anywhere, sadly. If you find it, you're further than we got.

Don't waste time hiding (yet)

The GamePix listing promises "haunting adversaries at every corner", and the key chart even has a crouch. Nobody hunted us. We walked straight into the avocado gorilla and the tire frog and nothing happened, and the gorilla stayed on the same spot through a 25-second idle. Maybe they wake up after the Cutter. Until then, explore freely.

Play Haunted Brainrot 3D in landscape on a phone

In a phone-shaped portrait window the title art was cropped and the New Game button sat off-screen, so there was nothing to tap. Turned sideways, the whole title screen fit. The touch joystick and buttons are drawn in-game either way, though we only checked phone-sized windows, not a real handset.

Most people find Haunted Brainrot 3D through a brainrot search, so it's fair to ask how it relates to the Roblox game that made these characters famous. The cameo picks are oddly old-school, too. Avocadorilla was a Mythic you could only get from the 2025 Fuse Machine, and Boneca Ambalabu and Chimpanzini Bananini are early rebirth requirements. None of the 17 brainrots the wiki lists for the new Haunted Fuse, up to the $425M/s Secret Phoenix, shows up in the parts of the prison we explored.

Is Haunted Brainrot 3D Worth Playing?

Yes, if you're a brainrot fan with some time to kill, and you expect a short, rough first-person escape rather than real horror. The prison looks the part. Spotting the brainrot cameos is fun, and once you know that H opens things the controls are simple.

The rough edges are real, though. There's no save, no settings menu and no tutorial beyond a key chart, and two of the eight keys on that chart didn't work for us. The build calls itself version 0.1 in its config file, and it feels like it: the note talks about a house while you're standing in a prison. The creatures never threatened us on either floor, which takes most of the fear out of a horror game. We also can't tell you how long Haunted Brainrot 3D is, because we never got past the Cutter.

Who should skip it? Anyone after a proper scare, since Granny 2 actually hunts you. Same for anyone who wants to pick a run back up tomorrow, since nothing saves. But if you liked spotting Avocadorilla in Steal a Brainrot and want a quick October poke around a creepy prison, Haunted Brainrot 3D does the job.

How we tested this game

We played the GamePix build in Chrome on a PC without a graphics card for about three and a half hours on October 5 and 6, 2026: two loads through the embed plus one direct load of the build, three New Game runs, the first objective completed, both floors explored, a reload to test saving, and phone-shaped windows. The game ran at 5 to 25 frames per second, so we judged mechanics, not difficulty.
